Gallagher makes the right interpretation

Gallagher Convention Centre has analysed market demand for conferences well beyond seating capacity, and has created value adding components including services and solutions for translations and communication interpretation.

Sales Manager, Ciné Dunkley says that around 10% of all conferences booked require these services at least once a month. “We conduct business in a multi-lingual global community and, as we are an international venue, we have to deliver on the expectations of our guests from around the world. Delegates attend conferences as they would like to learn and perhaps contribute towards the proceedings which could be conducted in Portuguese, French, Arabic or Chinese. Gallagher has a number of preferred technical suppliers who have invested in state-of-the-art translation booths, microphones and receivers to accommodate client requests regarding interpretation equipment. Through our technology consultants we are advised on a regular basis on new technical solutions regarding interpretation, with new technology in the forefront, options change and exciting new equipment is made available to clients.

Dunkley says that, in the event of hearing impaired delegates in the audience, a sign language interpreter will be appointed - normally on request by the organiser or the conference host. Interpreting services are most commonly in demand for both national and international conferences, while the nature and number of attendees are determining components for the optimisation of the investment.
