Gallagher turns on Africa Electricity

Africa Electricity, which was hosted at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, featured exhibitors from all over the world. Products and services were on display, all with the intention to make an impact on the way Africa generates its electricity. The event took place from the 15TH to the17TH of November 2011.

The specialised event featured debates on topics such as Africa’s electricity distribution infrastructure, new and renewable sources of energy and the integrated resource plan (IRP) 2010-2030. Technical seminars also took place on a variety of topics that ranged from smart grids to lighting controls for energy-saving.

Adolf Venter, Chief Executive Officer at Gallagher Convention Centre says: “As the entire world searches for new and renewable sources of energy, exhibitions like Africa Electricity are vital in ensuring a greener future for us all. Considering our own electricity saving measures introduced during the last two years including energy saving lighting, it is appropriate that the exhibition was hosted at our venue.”

The exhibition was well received by the diverse audience of attendees and exhibitors. Africa Electricity boasted of 100 exhibitors from 23 countries worldwide. Many of the exhibitors have already shown interest in the 2012 edition of the exhibition, booking their stands in advance. Africa Energy enjoys a professional partnership with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) who also officially opened the exhibition. Other partners included the Foundation for the Development of Africa, Southern Africa Alternative Energy Associations (SAAEA) and the International Private Water Association (IPWA).The show was officially opened by Ms. Phindile Nzimande, Chief Executive Officer of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa – NERSA
